If there is one car that we can place next to THE icon of Mercedes-Benz -300SL- in terms of looks, it must be the 190SL. The production line of the 190SL started at the beginning of 1955 and was only available in the form of an open grand tourer, with an optional detachable hardtop. The 190SL may share identical lines with the 300SL, but it was built for a completely different purpose, namely; pure elegance, luxury and driving pleasure, combined in the form of an open GT. The 190SL is built on a shortened monocoque platform from its luxurious brother, the W121 ‘Ponton’.
This Mercedes-Benz 190SL was first delivered in 1962 and is equipped with the optional and original big-window hardtop, which emphasises the elegance of this 190SL. This copy was completely ‘nuts & bolts’ restored some years age, and is today in excellent condition. This 190SL still has the original and completely overhauled Solex carburettors. Moreover, the engine and chassis number are ‘matching’, so it goes without saying that the data card of this 190SL is also included. A real beauty!
This very elegant Mercedes-Benz 190SL is now for sale at Rock N Roll Classics!
